Shanklin Theatre

Visit a West End theatre of your choice on a wonderful theatre break and you will be witnessing the star power of some internationally renowned theatre productions. London’s Theatreland is a tourist attraction like no other, encompassing over forty theatres and shows that have been the mainstay of London for over twenty years. Shows such as The Mousetrap, Blood Brothers, the Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and more are institutions.

But it is not just long running production in the West End. Every year that you visit will involve witnessing new productions in smaller venues meaning that there is always something different on offer. Plays such as Hamlet, Oedipus, Ivanhoe, Plague Over England, Waiting For Godot, All’s Well That Ends Well and Romeo And Juliet are all classic plays that come and go each year led by terrific casts and award winning production teams.

And it makes sense that the best talent will be seen in the West End. After all, a stage in Theatreland is a prestigious stage indeed, a podium for actors to reach at the high point in their careers. Reaching the West End is the equivalent of landing a record deal if you are in a band or getting a novel published if you are a writer.

Which is why there are so many actors that return to the West End even when they have appeared in hit movies and television shows. In recent years a whole host of actors and other performers have done just that, with a handful of examples including Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Josh Hartnett, James McAvoy, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Kevin Spacey, Rowan Atkinson, Robert Webb, Imelda Staunton, Matthew Horne and many more.

These shows have encompassed the likes of Waiting For Godot, different productions of Hamlet, Rain Man, Three Days of Rain, Oliver!, Fat Pig, Entertaining Mr Sloane, A Dolls House and more. It ensures that a trip to the West End will be one to remember as performers you have seen on the big screen act in intimate theatres and deliver performers that you could never witness in the cinema.

And because so many West End theatres date back to the nineteenth century, you will also be stepping back into history, as these venues have been used for hundreds of years.
A theatre break in the capital is a must for everyone!
